Open

The Crème de la Crème Museum shows the over 3 centuries-old history of ice cream making in the Czech Republic and around the world. On an area of 100 metres you will see more than 200 historical exhibits, two historical ice cream factories and a historical ice cream bar. You will learn how ice cream was made 100 years ago and how it is made today. Some of the historic machines are interactive and can be set in motion. Several documentaries about the history of ice cream are permanently projected on the screen, including our own documentary about ice cream.

The entrance to the museum is directly from the Ice Cream Salon, Národní 23 - Prague 1 via a spiral staircase and unfortunately is not wheelchair accessible. Single admission is 50 CZK, family admission is 100 CZK (2 adults and up to 3 children). Tickets are available for purchase at the bar. It is also possible to purchase a gift voucher for the Ice Cream Museum.

We look forward to your visit.

stará výrobna zmrzliny

This is what a typical ice cream factory looked like around 1911. The basic raw material for freezing ice cream was ice.

Since 1903, ice cream has been inseparably linked to cones. The old ice cream press is complemented by the beautiful metal transport boxes that Italian producers used to transport the cones to the ice cream makers.

historický bar ze 70. let, Itálie

The historic bar is set in 1970s Italy.

The most valuable in our exhibition are the Frigera ice-cream makers, because these Czechoslovak machines demonstrating the extraordinary technical maturity of our interwar engineering are not exhibited in any other museum in the world.

kniha Gelati

The oldest ice cream recipe books date back to the baroque period. Francois Massialotte's book dates back to 1693 and is on display here in its original state.

A museum has to be fun, but also educational. The section dedicated to refrigeration technology also shows a working model of an ice cream machine in section.

zmrzlinové stroje Cattabriga

A part of our exhibition is interactive and visitors can even run several ice cream machines themselves to see how the machines that wrote the history of the ice cream industry work. These Cattabriga machines are also on display in other exhibitions in Europe. But ours are working and are in operation from time to time.
